Description: The Kirklee Hotel is situated in Glasgow's leafy West End, an ideal location from which to explore the city and beyond. The Kirklee, an Edwardian Townhouse set in award winning gardens overlooking a private park, embodies this sense of place and style.The Hotel forms part of Kensington Gate, a serpentine of red sandstone townhouses, designed by David Barclay in 1902 and built in the grand style of the period. It has the ambience and character of an Edwardian home; all of the rooms retain the original style with period features, antique furniture and paintings and etchings by Scottish and International artists. The hotel is recommended by many independent British, European and American travel guides such as Fodor's, Frommer, Rough Guide and Lonely Planet.
Directions: The hotel is about 1.5 miles from Glasgow city centre, in the West End. The simplest way to get to the hotel is by taxi. If you are driving, then head west, through Charing Cross, towards The University of Glasgow. This should take you onto Woodlands Road which will lead you to Great Western Road (A82). Drive along this road, past the intersection with Byres Road, and at the next set of traffic lights turn left into Horselethill Road. Kensington Gate is first on the right. We are at number 11.From the airport take the M8 to Glasgow. Take the Clyde Tunnel exit and continue through the tunnel. Continue for just over a mile until you reach a major junction at Anniesland. Get in the lane for A82, city centre. This will take you onto Great Western Road (A82). After a further mile the road ceases to be a dual carriageway (there is a BP garage on the right) and there are traffic lights. Go straight through these and the next set of lights and at the third set of traffic lights turn right into Horselethill Road and then first right into Kensington Gate. We are number 11.
